About Forrest MTB Hire
Only 12 in total. However we won't normally have all 12 available for hire at the same time as bikes need maintenance, cleaning etc.
Ideally not. Because of the small fleet, we might not be able to help at short notice. You can always try giving us a call and try your luck!
I run the Forrest Guesthouse and Explore MTB (skills and instruction) plus I have kids, and love riding, hiking, sailing etc so chances are if you haven't made a booking, I also might not be physically around to hire bikes to you at short notice.
Give me a call on 0407318507 (I will answer the phone as Forrest Guesthouse).
Forrest MTB Hire runs out of the same property as Forrest Guesthouse and Dar Tèta - we don't have a shop front for you to walk up to. If you have a booking, we will get your bike ready and arrange to meet you in the gardens of the Forrest Guesthouse at 16 Grant Street, Forrest.
Once you are out the front of the restaurant, follow the path to the right side of the verandah and walk through to the gardens. I will either be waiting there to complete the handover, or give me a quick buzz and I'll come and meet you.
Sorry, no. At this stage we only offer hardtail mountain bikes. There is a company called Otway EBikes based out of Beech Forest (an hour away) which hires ebikes and you can ride them on the Beechy Rail Trail.
We offer half day or full day hires.
Half day hires: 8am - 12pm
or 1pm - 5pm on weekdays. On Saturdays a half day hire runs 9am - 1pm.
Full day hire runs from 8am - 5pm Mon - Fri, and 9am - 5pm on Saturday.
No bike hire collection is available on Sundays but you can hire it for a Sunday if you can pick it up Saturday evening.
No, we operate Monday - Saturday with bookings required. Multi day hires can include a Sunday as long as the pick up date is Monday - Saturday.
We provide an Australian Standards helmet, mini pump, spare tube and tyre levers. All bikes have a drink bottle holder.
At handover we will check the bike is a suitable size for you, explain the operations of the bike and talk to you about suitable trails.
We suggest you download the Trailforks app on your mobile. This is the best way for you to navigate our trail network as it shows you where you are on the trail in real time. The app is free to download and the free version shows you the trails within your current 5km so once you are in Forrest, you will be able to view the Forrest trails for free.
If you want to plan your ride ahead, you can always view the trails on the desktop version of trailforks for free any time, anywhere.
You can also view the various maps, original and temporary maps here.
